CANOEING In The Adirondacks: Day PADDLE TRIPS
Adirondack All Seasons Guide Service is available for guided canoe trips in the northern Adirondack region. Whether you are a solo traveler, couple, family, or small group of friends (up to 6 people), we would be happy to help you plan an experience based on your desires and ability level at a time that works for you. For those interested in arranging their own paddle experience with us, we recommend making advance reservations for trips during the summer and fall seasons. The locations for most of our trips include waters around the villages of Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake, Paul Smiths, Lake Clear and Lake Placid.
If you are interested in planning a trip with us, please submit a Plan A Trip form. Let us know how long you would like to be out (hours to several days), what your interests are, the number of people in your group, etc. and we'll provide you with some trip suggestions and options. Trip details, directions to the meeting point, a packing list and other pertinent trip information will be provided once a trip is decided upon and reservations are made. Please contact us with any questions you may have, for more information, pricing, trip suggestions and/or to make reservations for an experience of your choice. Last minute inquiries are welcome and subject to availability. Visit us on Facebook to see what we are up to, where we've been, and for trip opportunities that don't get posted on our website.
We recommend that paddlers come prepared to have the most enjoyable day possible on the water so we have provided a list of clothing and gear that you should bring with you. CLICK HERE FOR the DAY PADDLE CLOTHING & GEAR LIST. We generally meet at the determined meeting point for trips 9:30-9:45 AM.
HERE'S SOME POPULAR DAY PADDLES AROUND OUR AREA:
Round Lake - Little Tupper Lake: These bodies of water are part of the WILLIAM C. WHITNEY WILDERNESS AREA. The round-trip distance will be 7-10 miles depending on the wind/weather conditions for the day. Little Tupper Lake & Round Lake are connected by a marshy 1.5 mile inlet/outlet where various waterfowl are often found. Eagles and loons nest in this area also. This is planned to be an exploratory paddle trip with opportunities to view marsh and bog vegetation as well as other wildlife encountered throughout the day. There may also be an opportunity to swim as one of the sandy beaches on Round Lake. Our actual put-in point will be determined upon arriving at the meeting point and will be based on the anticipated weather and wind conditions for the day.
St. Regis Seven Carries: These bodies of water are part of the ST. REGIS CANOE WILDERNESS AREA. This point to point trip will be 8 to 10 miles depending on the amount of exploring we do and the weather conditions for the day. We will meet and shuttle vehicles before putting in at Upper St. Regis Lake. From there we will pond hop through Bog, Bear, Little Long, Green, St. Regis and Little Clear Ponds. St. Regis Pond is one of the most beautiful ponds in the Adirondacks and has splendid views of St. Regis Mt. Little Clear Pond is an attractively wild pond which is home to the brood stock for the Land-locked Salmon program. We will portage six times on this trip with the portages being 150 ft., 150 ft., 0.25 mil., 0.25 mi., 100 ft., and 0.6 mile.
Osgood Pond - Jones Pond Outlet - Osgood River - Little Osgood Pond - Church Pond: This is an 8 to 12-mile end-to-end leisurely paddle trip allowing exploration of quiet ponds, a creek, small river and hand dug channels in the Paul Smith's area. The route for the day will be determined by the weather & wind conditions well as the group's desire. Each area we will visit has its own unique character. There are no portages on this trip but we may have a beaver dam or two to negotiate. We may also need to wade with the boats for a short distance through a shallow area.
